Program Overview
Computer Based Learning in Echocardiography: Incorporating New Technology into Contemporary Clinical Practice is a premier educational program for echocardiography in clinical practice featuring a high-tech environment. The American Society of Echocardiography Education and Research Foundation (ASEF) established the ASEF Learning Lab to facilitate small-group, hands-on learning opportunities for cardiovascular ultrasound professionals. ASE and ASEF are pleased to be able to bring together world-class faculty to give practitioners an opportunity to learn valuable new skills in a focused learning environment. Taught by expert faculty in a state-of-the-art computer classroom facility, ASEF Learning Lab courses are two-day, intensive sessions and are limited to only 40 participants.
Conveniently located at the I-40 and Airport Blvd interchange, the ASEF Learning Lab is just three miles from Raleigh Durham International Airport (RDU).

This activity is supported in part by an educational grant from TomTec Imaging Systems.
ASE would also like to thank TomTec Imaging Systems for supplying computer software for use at this activity.
|
A full list of support will be made available at the time of the activity.

CME Credit
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the American Society of Echocardiography and the ASE Education and Research Foundation. The American Society of Echocardiography is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The American Society of Echocardiography designates this educational activity for a maximum of 11.25 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
ARDMS and CCI recognize ASE’s certificates and have agreed to honor the credit hours toward their registry requirements for sonographers. This activity has been reviewed by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) and is acceptable for up to 11.25 hours of CME credit toward ICAEL laboratory accreditation requirements.
The American Society of Echocardiography is committed to ensuring that its educational mission and all sponsored educational programs are not influenced by the special interests of any corporation or individual, and its mandate is to retain only those speakers whose financial interests can be effectively resolved to maintain the goals and educational integrity of the program. While a monetary or professional affiliation with a corporation does not necessarily influence a speaker’s presentation, the Essential Areas and policies of the ACCME require that any relationship that could possibly conflict with the educational value of the program be resolved prior to the educational session and disclosed to the audience. In accordance with these policies, ASE implemented mechanisms prior to the planning and implementation of this CME activity to identify and resolve conflicts of interest for all individuals in a position to control content.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this program, attendees will be better able to:
• Recognize the principles of myocardial (strain) imaging.
• Quantify myocardial function using both Doppler and “Speckle tracking” echocardiography.
• Perform clinically relevant calculations for the quantification of aortic and mitral valve regurgitation.
• Apply clinical practice concepts and develop a pragmatic approach for the evaluation of left ventricular diastolic function that can be used in daily practice.
• Assess and perform analyses of 3D data sets.
Teaching is based on ASE guidelines, standards and recommendations. A detailed digital syllabus is included with your registration and will be provided on site.

Who Should Attend?
This activity is designed for all cardiovascular physicians and cardiac sonographers with a primary interest and knowledge base in the field of echocardiography; in addition, residents, researchers, clinicians, intensivists and other medical professionals with a specific interest in cardiovascular ultrasound will find this program beneficial.
