The Pediatric Guidelines
The Pediatric Guidelines will be published in the May issue of JASE. Prior to reading this document we would like to assess the routine clinical practice of our members who perform pediatric echocardiograms. (Note: a measurement is considered routine if measured in = 50% of studies).

Which of the following parameters of left atrial (LA) size do you measure in your clinical practice (you may measure more than one)?
Antero-posterior dimension in the long axis view
Medial-lateral dimension in the apical 4-chamber view
LA area from the apical 4-chamber view
Biplane Simpson’s rule (LA volume) from the apical views
None of the above

Which of the following geometric parameters of left ventricular function do you routinely perform in your clinical practice (you may measure more than one)?
    Shortening fraction
Fractional area change
Ejection fraction
None of the above

Which of the following non-geometric parameters of left ventricular function do you routinely perform in your clinical practice (you may measure more than one)?
Tissue Doppler of mitral valve annular motion
Estimated mean or peak isovolumic rate of LV pressure change (from TR velocity profile)
Myocardial performance index
Strain, strain rate and torsion
None of the above.

Which of the following parameters of right ventricular (RV) size do you routinely perform in your clinical practice (you may measure more than one)?
    RV free wall thickness
End-diastolic diameter at the base and/or mid-cavity level
TAPSE from the apical view
RV fractional area change from the apical view
RV volume
None of the above.
