ASE Headquarters Closed

ASE Headquarters will be closed Wednesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day in the United States. Normal business hours will resume Thursday, July 5.

ASE 2018 Hosts Over 2,600 Attendees

The ASE 2018 Scientific Sessions just wrapped up in Nashville, Tennessee, and it was a tremendous success. Chaired by Sunil V. Mankad, MD, FASE, and Sonographer Co-Chair, Merri L. Bremer, EdD, RN, RDCS, ACS, FASE, more than 2,600 attendees, almost 50 countries, enjoyed five days of learning that were also packed with exciting networking events. ASE 2018 also welcomed investigators from 20 countries around the world who presented their original science during the meeting. Congratulations to the two investigator award competition winners on their excellent achievements.

ASE Retains AMA’s HOD Status

ASE is proud to announce that the Society has successfully met all the requirements needed to maintain its seat in the American Medical Association (AMA) House of Delegates.

As a member of the House of Delegates ASE:

  • Helps sets the legislative and regulatory priorities for the AMA.
  • Has full delegate status which provides ASE with full representation before CPT/RUC.
    • This delegate role has contributed to some of ASE’s more recent, substantial advocacy successes.

This is a critical piece that allows ASE to work to protect echocardiography and provide your patients with access to necessary care.

Richard E. Kerber Ethics/Humanitarian Lecture

The ASE Foundation is proud to recognize James Kirkpatrick, MD, FASE, from the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, as the inaugural Richard E. Kerber Ethics/Humanitarian Lecturer. This annual lectureship has been established in memory of ASE Past President Richard E. Kerber, MD, FASE, who passed away in November of 2016. Dr. Kerber championed issues of morality and ethics and how medicine fits into the broader world. To honor his legacy, this annual lectureship will feature an ethical dilemma or humanitarian patient care activity. Dr. Kirkpatrick will present his lecture entitled “Ethical Challenges in the Practice of Echocardiography: What is Right and How Do We Do It?” during the Dilated Cardiomyopathies session at this year’s Scientific Sessions in Nashville, TN. Plan to attend this session on Sunday, June 24th from 10:15 – 11:45 AM in the Tennessee Ballroom DE.
