ASE Course Co-Director Application

In an effort to have greater transparency in the selection of the ASE  Course Co-Directors, we have established the following application process for ASE members to apply to be a Course Co-Director beginning in 2024 and serving through 2025.

It is current policy that the Co-Director becomes the Course Director after two years, and will serve as the Course Director for two years.  This application process applies to ASE’s small courses. (The ASE Scientific Sessions is not currently included in this process.)

  • Echo Hawaii (January)
  • State-of-the-Art Echocardiography (February)
  • Review Course Virtual Experience (Early May)
  • Advanced Imaging Techniques Virtual Experience (September)
  • Echo Florida (October)

Course Directors and Co-Directors are instrumental to the implementation and eventual success of our educational programs.  The Director and Co-Director will ensure the success of the ASE educational course by developing the content and selecting the appropriate faculty to support the objectives of the program. Faculty are vital for the delivery of balanced content to meet the session objectives, and the overall ASE mission. ASE depends on the Director and Co-Director to deliver up-to-date and effective learning methods during our live courses. It is their responsibility to update the course and faculty while staying within the parameters set out by the ASE Board of Directors.

Applications submitted will be reviewed by the ASE Education Committee. Recommendations will be made to the ASE Executive Committee who will make the final selection. Co-Directors who are selected will serve from 2024 through 2025.

All Applications must be submitted by March 15, 2023.  Final selections will be announced by April 30, 2023.

COURSE CO-DIRECTOR

The Course Co-Director is a senior faculty position with the assumption that they will succeed the Course Director.  Course Co-Directors are in place for no more than two consecutive years.  Anyone who wants to be considered for the role of Co-Director needs to apply, including past Course Directors and Past Presidents.

  • Work with faculty on submission of their slides/presentations to the ASE website for course attendees to access during and after the course.
  • Meet with ASE staff, AV staff, and hotel staff for an orientation of the site and address any last-minute concerns.
  • Debrief the course to discuss what went well and what needs to change for the next year.
  • Assist in recruitment of financial support including industry funding and equipment for the meeting in alignment with the Society’s corporate relations department
  • Co-Directors are restricted from accepting or continuing in a leadership role in another competing course. Speaker opportunities are acceptable but no leadership or director role can be accepted.
