Team EchoToday – 2nd Place

Michael T. Owen, RDCS, RVT

Michael is a recent RDCS and RVT graduate from the Austin, Texas area; that is December of 2016 and May of 2017 respectively. After realizing that none of his clinical rotation sites had intentions of implementing the newly updated Diastolic Function guidelines, he decided to find out why. After many inquiries amongst various sonographers and cardiologists at five different facilities, it became apparent that people simply did not know about the changes, did not care, or were aware yet the information was too difficult to fully comprehend. With a great deal of inspiration stemming from his instructor, Professor Janet Barlow, RDCS, RVT, FASE, Michael decided to start his project EchoToday during his final semesters as an echo student. Professor Barlow’s passion for Echocardiography is deeply contagious and brings out the best in others who share the same passions. Check out www.iechotoday.com to download the app!
