What is the Advanced Imaging Techniques: Virtual Experience?

The Advanced Imaging Techniques course will focus on 3D and strain imaging. Echocardiography is a rapidly evolving imaging technique. Improved software packages have resulted in increasing clinical application of these techniques, with 3D and strain recently being included as part of the routine echocardiographic examination. Increased education in these areas is needed to ensure standardization of measurements and improved acquisition of datasets.

This virtual course will be presented in two 3-hour sessions, each from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM (ET/New York). Day One will focus on advanced strain imaging and Day Two will focus on advanced 3D imaging. The presentation format will be approximately one-hour for each presentation (40 minutes of pre-recorded of content with 20 minutes live question and answer). A strong emphasis has been placed on practical aspects of data acquisition and analysis of raw datasets. This is an exciting, clinically applicable program aimed at the sonographer/practitioner directly involved in advanced echo imaging.

Learning Objectives

On completion of the virtual course, participants will be able to:

  1. Recognize the clinical application of advanced echo imaging techniques.
  2. Describe the basic principles around strain imaging.
  3. Improve acquisition of quality 3D datasets
  4. Identify imaging pitfalls affecting acquisition of speckle tracking datasets
  5. Perform 3D analysis to assess the left ventricle. Right ventricle, and mitral valve during structural interventions.
  6. Perform strain imaging analysis to assess the left ventricle, right ventricle and atria.
