Charge(s):
• Communicate with members regarding ASE’s position on legislative or regulatory issues affecting the use of CV ultrasound via website, social media and council newsletters (Chair)
• Monitor federal and state legislative, coding and reimbursement issues of concern to the practice of cardiac ultrasound and vascular imaging
• Work on ASE’s RUC and CPT initiatives to support appropriate evaluation of all echocardiography codes
• Develop a positive strategy and message for the value of echo in patient care that will resonate with providers, payors and the public
• Participate in ASE’s grassroots network of members to respond to advocacy needs and to communicate with their area legislators.
• Assess CV ultrasound trends and develop and propose adaptive strategies to help members manage healthcare changes.
• Collaborate with other ASE Committees (PR Committee, Guidelines and Standards Committee, Training and Certification Committee, etc.) to address challenges to the quality practice of echocardiography
The Committee is organized into subcommittees who handle various aspects of ASE’s advocacy program and attend meetings or participate in additional conference calls as needed.
The Committee must sign an additional statement of confidentiality to participate on this committee.
The Chair of the Advocacy Committee may not have any paid relationships with industry or others during their term of service.
