Congratulations 2026 Awardee, Sherif Nagueh, MD, FASE
Dr. Sherif F. Nagueh has a distinguished and longstanding interest in the assessment of cardiac function, with a particular focus on left ventricular diastolic function. He served as the Chair of the ASE/EAE/EACVI writing groups for the echocardiographic evaluation of left ventricular diastolic function. His research has significantly advanced the diagnosis and management of myocardial diseases, especially dilated and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. He also chaired the multimodality imaging guidelines for patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in 2011 and 2022. Dr. Nagueh has led numerous studies investigating left-ventricular diastolic function in animal models, and in patients with and without heart failure, as well as patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
