Abstract Submission Opens October 2025
Arthur E. Weyman Young Investigator’s Award Competition
Young investigators under the age of 40, who are no more than five years from the end of their training, are eligible to participate in this annual competition named in honor of Arthur E. Weyman, MD, FASE, first president of the National Board of Echocardiography (NBE) and supported by a grant from NBE to the ASE Foundation. Four finalists will be selected to present their work to a panel of distinguished research experts during the ASE Scientific Sessions. The winner will be awarded $1,500 and each of the other finalists $1,000. Complimentary meeting registration and monetary prizes for all finalists are provided by the ASE Foundation.
The winner will also be invited to present their research at the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) annual meeting, and Japanese Society of Echocardiography (JSE) annual meeting. Young investigators must submit an abstract of original work and an additional brief manuscript of up to 1,500 words to be considered for the competition. Abstracts not selected as finalists in the competition will automatically be considered for general presentation.

Arthur E. Weyman Young Investigator’s Award Competition
Sonographer (non-physician) investigators who served as the primary investigator on their project are eligible to participate in this annual competition supported by the ASE Foundation in honor of Brian Haluska, PhD, MSC (HONS), RDCS, AMS, FASE, and his incredible contributions to sonographer-led research over the course of his career. Four finalists will be selected to make an oral presentation and a poster presentation of their research at the annual ASE Scientific Sessions. The winner will be awarded $500.
In addition, all four finalists will receive complimentary meeting registration. To be eligible, applicants must hold echocardiography credentials from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or an equivalent international sonography credential, and must indicate that they would like to be considered for the competition when submitting their work. Applicants who hold a medical doctorate degree (such as MD or DO), or an equivalent international medical degree (such as MBBS or MBChB), are not eligible to apply. Abstracts not selected as finalists in the competition will automatically be considered for general presentation.
