About the Event

The ASE 2026 Scientific Sessions are designed to provide clinicians, sonographers, and researchers with the latest advancements in echocardiography practice and technology. The program integrates innovation, multimodality imaging, and collaborative learning across diverse cardiovascular disciplines.

“In addition to the fruitful learning experience, I was also able to make friends with people interested in cardiac imaging as well as role models in the field. In total, the meeting is a wonderful experience, and I will definitely come back to more ASE Scientific Sessions in the near future.”

Who Should Attend

ASE 2026 content is not only designed for cardiologists and sonographers, but also is inclusive of specialists like pediatricians, point of care clinicians, anesthesiologists, interventionalists, vascular specialists, surgeons, veterinarians, nurses, researchers, and engineers. ASE believes encouraging all echo practitioners to get to know one another and work together will continue to strengthen this vibrant and dynamic field.

Learning Objectives

  • Apply Innovations in Echocardiography Practice: Evaluate emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, automation, and virtual reality to enhance echocardiographic accuracy, workflow efficiency, and clinical decision-making.
  • Integrate Multimodality Imaging Approaches: Incorporate echocardiography with other imaging modalities (CT, MRI, 3D, strain, and fusion imaging) to optimize diagnosis, procedural guidance, and follow-up in structural, ischemic, and valvular heart disease.
  • Advance Clinical Decision-Making Across the Care Spectrum: Utilize case-based learning to translate imaging findings into patient management strategies across diverse settings—critical care, perioperative, interventional, and outpatient environments.
  • Promote Quality and Safety in Echocardiography Practice: Implement effective lab management, ergonomic, and quality improvement strategies to enhance workflow, maintain high imaging standards, and prevent sonographer injury.
  • Foster Collaboration Across Disciplines and Species: Recognize the value of cross-disciplinary and cross-species learning—linking insights from veterinary cardiology, pediatric and adult congenital heart disease, and interventional cardiology—to improve patient outcomes.
  • Empower the Next Generation of Echocardiography Professionals: Engage in sessions that support sonographer education, program accreditation, and mentoring to sustain workforce development and professional growth.
  • Translate Global and Community Health Perspectives: Understand how echocardiography and POCUS initiatives contribute to addressing cardiovascular disease in underserved and global health settings, aligning with ASE’s mission to advance equitable care.

Session Track Mapping

Each session at ASE 2026 supports these objectives through focused educational tracks, as outlined below:

  • AI & Innovation: Artificial intelligence foundations, debates on AI integration, and novel technologies in echo labs.
  • Multimodality Imaging: Joint sessions with CT and interventional imaging specialists addressing planning and procedural integration.
  • Pediatric/ACHD/Fetal: ‘Meet the Legends’ series, congenital heart disease updates, and multidisciplinary pediatric/fetal case reviews.
  • Veterinary Cardiology: Joint ASE–ACVIM session featuring late-breaking abstracts and translational lessons from veterinary imaging.
  • Interventional Echocardiography: Didactic and case-based sessions highlighting anesthesiologists and interventional imagers as team leaders.
  • Quality & Safety: QI-focused sessions and sonographer-led discussions on lab efficiency, ergonomics, and workflow.
  • Education & Accreditation: Program director panel and sessions on launching and maintaining accredited echo training programs.

POCUS Workshop

This is an intensive, full-day workshop designed to provide a comprehensive, hands-on learning experience in Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) for frontline clinicians. The workshop covers cardiac, pulmonary, and abdominal ultrasound for various healthcare professionals, culminating in a Certificate of Completion documenting didactic and practical hours. The Clinical Integration Panel session titled "Looking Beyond the Traditional Windows," focuses on the expanding role of POCUS across specialties, discussing its application in real-life clinical cases, its relationship with traditional echocardiography, and future innovations in the field. This workshop emphasizes the importance of POCUS for bedside decision-making and its growing necessity in modern acute and chronic patient care.

CME Information

ASE is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide accredited continuing education for physicians.

ASE designates this live course for a maximum of 19.75 (pending approval) AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  CME/MOC breakdown: Friday 5, Saturday 7.75, Sunday 7.

In addition to offering CME credits, this activity has been developed and registered with ACCME to provide MOC and MOCA 2.0 credits in alignment with AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.

Successful completion of this CME activity enables the participant to earn up to 19.75 (pending approval) MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program, the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) MOC program, and/or the American Board of Anesthesiology's (ABA) Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology Program® or MOCA 2.0®. It is ASE's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM and ABP MOC points and/or ABA MOCA 2.0®.

Participants should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Physicians will earn MOC and/or MOCA 2.0 points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity.

ARDMS, CCI, and Sonography Canada recognize ASE's certificates and have agreed to honor the CME credit hours toward their registry requirements for sonographers.
