Introduction to Cardiac Amyloidosis and the Basics of Echo

This webinar will focus on the evolving role of echocardiography in the diagnosis of cardiac amyloidosis, including recognition of atypical and early-stage patterns of amyloid deposition that are easy to miss on a routine study. We’ll cover the practical use of strain imaging — including apical sparing patterns and left atrial strain — as a core diagnostic and prognostic tool, and clarify how echocardiography fits alongside technetium-labeled pyrophosphate (PYP) scintigraphy, cardiac MRI, and amyloid-specific PET in a modern multimodality diagnostic pathway.Cardiac amyloidosis is no longer a rare, untreatable disease. With multiple approved disease-modifying therapies now available for ATTR cardiac amyloidosis and continued advances in AL treatment, early and accurate diagnosis has never mattered more for patient outcomes. This session will help attendees recognize the echocardiographic red flags that should trigger further workup, understand when and how to use PYP scanning appropriately, and avoid common diagnostic pitfalls — including cases where imaging findings are subtle or atypical.
