The ASE Cardiovascular Sonography Council (SONO) is dedicated to the following objectives:

  • Support cardiovascular ultrasound interest areas by communicating issues of importance to the membership;
  • Provide guidance to the ASE Board of Directors regarding sonographer issues;
  • Provide a forum for members with similar interests to network;
  • Provide a representative (council chair) to ASE Board of Directors, as required;
  • To provide educational offerings for sonographers, including guidance to Scientific Sessions Program Committee
  • To provide guidance on standards of care related to cardiovascular ultrasound to the Guidelines and Standards Committee

Awards and Grants

  • Sonographer Lifetime Achievement Award will be awarded in June 2026 to Ken Horton, ACS, RCS, FASE of Intermountain Health in Salt Lake City, Utah.
  • Each year the ASE Foundation gives $1000 travel grants in partnership with ASE councils. The following sonographers received a grant to ASE 2026 in Aurora, CO this year.

    • Zachary Bukowski, MS, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center
