The January JASE focus issue on valvular heart disease is now online and features state-of-the-art review “Echocardiographic and Pathophysiologic Insights Into Mitral Regurgitation, Mitral Annular Disjunction, and Ventricular Arrhythmias in Patients With Mitral Valve Prolapse.” Regarding this focus issue, JASE Editor-in-Chief Patricia Pellikka, MD, FASE, remarked, “This collection of papers concerns
the important topics of arrhythmic features of mitral valve prolapse, post-operative left ventricular disfunction in primary mitral regurgitation, the relation of the Doppler shape of the tricuspid regurgitant signal with tricuspid regurgitation severity, and a revised grading system of tricuspid regurgitation severity. Also included are descriptions of the relation of left ventricular GLS with outcome in low-flow, low-gradient severe aortic stenosis and the influence of flow status on Doppler-derived effective orifice area in TAVR valves. Papers also concern the significance of tricuspid regurgitation and mild aortic stenosis detected with fetal echocardiography.”
In this month’s President’s Message, ASE President David Wiener, MD, FASE, shares details on each of ASE’s upcoming courses, so readers can “up” their educational pursuits in 2026.
