On September 25, ASE joined a letter led by the American Medical Association (AMA) to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security urging “clarifying guidance that determines that H-1B physicians entry into the U.S. is in the national interest of the country thereby exempting them from the Proclamation” that implements a $100,000 fee for H-1B visa applications. ASE strongly believes that if enacted this will harm healthcare in the United States. H-1B physicians are critical to addressing the U.S. physician shortage and often practice in underserved and rural communities.
