ASE’s 2025 Scientific Sessions Highlights Advances in Cardiovascular Ultrasound and Celebrates the Society’s 50th Anniversary
Cardiovascular Ultrasound Professionals Will Convene
in Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 5-7
(DURHAM, NC, August 27, 2025)—The American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) will host its 2025 Scientific Sessions Sept. 5-7 at the Music City Center in downtown Nashville, Tenn., bringing together more than 2,500 cardiovascular ultrasound professionals from around the world for a three-day hybrid conference focused on advancing patient care through the latest innovations in cardiovascular imaging.
This year’s event occurs during ASE’s 50th anniversary and luminaries from the field will be in Nashville to commemorate the milestone. Themed Harmonizing Hearts, the conference unites a diverse community of physicians, sonographers, nurses, scientists, veterinarians, industry leaders and partners for a weekend of education, connection and professional development.
Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States, and echocardiography is the most widely used cardiac imaging modality to support clinical decision-making. It plays a vital role in diagnosing and managing heart conditions, congenital defects, and other cardiovascular diseases, helping clinicians develop treatment plans and improve patient outcomes.
“This year’s Scientific Sessions will celebrate the history of ASE while also looking ahead to future advancements and emerging technologies that will drive progress in the field and the patients we serve.” said Carol Mitchell, PhD, ACS, RDMS, RDCS, RVT, RT(R), FASE, ASE 2025 Program Chair. “We look forward to welcoming our global community to Nashville to collaborate, network, and learn together.”
ASE’s Scientific Sessions will feature the largest number of research abstracts in the Society’s history, with more than 450 presentations highlighting advancements in the field. The program—assembled by Dr. Mitchell, ASE 2025 Program Co-Chair Dermot Phelan, MD, PhD, FASE, and 26 additional members and leaders who make up the ASE 2025 Program Committee—will showcase late-breaking science, moderated abstract presentations, and findings from young investigators and research sonographers.
The conference will include more than 130 educational sessions, a timeline of ASE highlights, hands-on do-it-yourself sessions, learning labs, and workshops on foundational, advanced, and emerging topics in cardiovascular ultrasound imaging.
Highlights of ASE 2025 include:
- Celebration of ASE’s 50th Anniversary: An unopposed session on September 5 reflecting on the Society’s rich 50-year history and looking ahead to its future.
- Shark Tank Innovation Competition: Spotlighting groundbreaking ideas in cardiovascular ultrasound that address clinical challenges and shape the future of the field.
- Episodes of Care Three-Part Session Series: Exploring how echocardiography and multidisciplinary collaboration support decision-making from initial diagnosis to treatment and follow-up. Presented by ASE in Partnership with the Cardiovascular Research Foundation®
- Echo Expo Exhibit Hall: Featuring over 60 exhibitors, six industry-sponsored Science & Technology Theaters, four industry education hubs, and more than 450 cutting-edge research abstracts with designated poster hours and moderated sessions on the exhibit floor.
- 16th Annual Research Awards Gala: A sold-out black-tie fundraiser hosted by the ASE Foundation, celebrating cardiovascular ultrasound research and honoring ASE’s 2025 Award Winners.
- ASE 2025 & 50th Anniversary Closing Reception: The meeting will culminate with a celebratory event at the Country Music Hall of Fame. ASE’s 50th Anniversary sponsors include Gold Sponsor Bristol Myers Squibb; Silver Sponsor National Board of Echocardiography, Inc.; and Friend Sponsors A. Fassano & Company, Blackwood CME, and Cytokinetics.
“ASE’s Scientific Sessions is the world’s largest gathering dedicated to echocardiography, where in-person and virtual attendees can explore best practices and preview the future of cardiovascular ultrasound,” said Dr. Phelan. “The meeting provides attendees with the unique opportunity to connect with peers, gain practical insights, and bring valuable knowledge back to their institutions and patients.”
