Echo Florida Attendees *Hurricane Matthew Update*

ASE is keeping a close eye on the weather and travel situation as Hurricane Matthew moves north. At this time, all Echo Florida workshops and meetings will take place, as scheduled, this Saturday, October 8 – Tuesday, October 11.

The workshops and meetings will not be cancelled unless there is a mandatory evacuation of the Grand Floridian. In the event that anything changes, ASE will email you immediately.

ASE Leadership Participates in the Fourth World Congress on Ultrasound in Medical Education

ASE’s leadership took an active role in the Fourth World Congress on Ultrasound in Medical Education held September 23-25, 2016. The Congress was hosted by Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas. Neil Weissman, MD, FASE, presented an adapted version of his Scientific Session’s presentation “The Future of Echocardiography: Disruptor of Disrupted?” to an engaged audience. Susan Wiegers, MD, FASE, ASE’s Immediate Past President, represented ASE on a panel discussion regarding POC in medical education and clinical care with a presentation on important research areas to be addressed. She also attended several meetings to discuss ASE’s POC ultrasound initiatives and worked with other organizations to promote and nurture the growth of educational offerings. These efforts are in alignment with ASE’s strategic goals to attract all users of cardiovascular ultrasound and facilitate the development of CV ultrasound technology.

ASEF Humanitarian Mission Volunteers in Central China

The ASE Foundation’s global health initiatives and humanitarian events program brings adult and pediatric cardiac care to areas in need, teaching local clinicians, and providing direct patient services to at-risk communities.Volunteers representing the ASE Foundation are currently in central China for a training and patient outreach event in collaboration with Xijing Hospital in Xi’an, China.  Follow their activities at ASEFoundation.org/central-china-2016.
