On February 10, ASE joined the American Medical Association and a coalition of medical societies in urging Congressional leadership to include provisions in the March 2025 appropriations bill to reverse Medicare payment cuts and provide physicians with a meaningful payment increase. The letter highlights that Medicare physician payments were reduced by 2.83% effective January 1, 2025, resulting in a 33% reduction since 2001 when adjusted for inflation. The coalition supports the bipartisan Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act (H.R. 879), which would stop the latest payment cuts between April 1 and December 31, 2025, and provide physicians with a 2% payment increase.
