On September 22, ASE joined over 150 other national organizations through the Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research in a letter to congressional appropriations leaders supporting the Joint Associations Group on Indirect Costs (JAG)’s development of a new Financial Accountability in Research (FAIR) model for supporting essential research costs. The letter recommends that Congress include appropriations language supporting JAG’s work, block any caps on existing F&A rates until implementation plans are developed, ensure a two-year transition period, and preserve current funding levels until the new model is fully implemented.
