On October 31, ASE joined a letter through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security requesting a national interest exemption from the $100,000 H-1B visa fee. The coalition highlighted critical workforce shortages and emphasized that pathologists and laboratory professionals are critical to patient care, and that the H-1B visa is essential to addressing shortages, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
