On November 13, ASE through the Alliance of Specialty Medicine sent a letter to House Appropriations Committee leadership commending the unanimous adoption of an amendment to halt funding for the Medicare WISeR Model in FY 2026 appropriations. The coalition expressed concerns about introducing prior authorization into Medicare Fee-for-Service without adequate safeguards or stakeholder engagement, and urged delaying implementation until at least January 2027, establishing strong guardrails against retroactive denials, implementing gold-carding for compliant physicians, and reforming vendor payment structures to eliminate denial-based incentives.
