ASE Joins Letter Urging Congressional Action on Physician Fee Schedule Practice Expense Cuts

On November 14, 18 physician organizations sent a letter to Congressional leadership urging Congress to halt the facility-based practice expense cuts in the CY 2026 Physician Fee Schedule final rule before implementation on January 1, 2026. The coalition argued the cuts would destabilize healthcare access, particularly in rural and underserved areas. The letter highlighted specific impacts across specialties, including estimated cuts of 11% for interventional echocardiography. The organizations urged CMS to make data-driven decisions and work with stakeholders to systematically assess facility practice expense before implementing wholesale changes.
