ASE Policy Statement on Artificial Intelligence

On Oct. 25, 2023, ASE released a policy statement for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in cardiovascular medicine. ASE supports the integration of AI in cardiovascular ultrasound to enhance efficiency, improve patient outcomes, and promote equitable, cost-effective care, while urging careful consideration of its development and use. ASE emphasizes the need for standardized AI terminology, transparent FDA-authorized validation processes, and payment models that recognize the continued role of clinicians in AI-supported care. Additionally, ASE calls for balanced liability structures to encourage innovation without placing undue risk on healthcare providers.
