On June 5, ASE joined the Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research in a letter to the Appropriations Committee urging Congress to reject the proposed $18 billion cut to the NIH budget. The letter emphasizes the vital role of NIH-funded research in advancing medical progress, boosting the economy, and meeting national health needs; and calls for increased funding and public engagement in any proposed restructuring. This letter builds on one of ASE’s policy priorities- supporting federal research funding. The Society recognizes the importance of NIH funding for the development of innovations in the field of echocardiography, such as enhancing diagnostic accuracy, enabling earlier disease detection, and advancing patient monitoring capabilities.
