The Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) was signed into law in 2008 and, in part, made changes to the Medicare program. Notably, the legislation mandated accreditation in Medicare Part B for certain advanced diagnostic imaging services to qualify for Medicare reimbursement. Echocardiography was not listed as an advancing imaging service; therefore, it was not subject to the accreditation mandate. “
