Council on Circulation & Vascular Ultrasound

Council Objectives include:

  • Support circulation and vascular ultrasound interest areas by communicating issues of importance to the membership;
  • Provide guidance to the ASE Board of Directors regarding circulation and vascular ultrasound;
  • Provide a forum for members with similar interests to network;
  • Provide a representative (council chairman) to ASE Board of Directors;
  • To provide educational offerings for those practicing cardiovascular ultrasound for circulation and vascular patients, including guidance to Scientific Sessions Program Committee
  • To provide guidance on standards of care related to circulation and vascular ultrasound to the Board and Guidelines and Standards Committee

Council on Circulation & Vascular Ultrasound Steering Committee Activities

  • Quarterly article in the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography (JASE)
  • Targeted track at ASE Scientific Sessions instructing how to perform vascular ultrasound, review clinical cases, and understand risk assessment in the practice of primary prevention
  • Advocacy efforts related to circulation and vascular ultrasound practice
  • Circulation and Vascular  community on  Connect@ASE
    • Bi-monthly message from chair
    • Resource library
    • Allows members to discuss issues and network
    • Forum for news and announcements about ASE and circulation and vascular ultrasound

2021 ASE CAVUS Council Training Grants

In partnership with the ASE Council on Circulation & Vascular Ultrasound, the ASE Foundation will sponsor two vascular ultrasound trainees (physician student or sonographer) registrations to attend the 32nd Annual ASE Scientific Sessions , June 18-21, 2021.

Students in an ultrasound training program, residents and fellows in vascular surgery, cardiovascular medicine, and vascular medicine may apply. All sonographers with strong interest in vascular ultrasound are also invited to apply. The application process requires submission of:

  • Your current CV.
  • A brief, one-page personal statement about why you want to attend the Annual ASE Scientific Sessions.
  • A letter from the director of your training program or the vascular laboratory director in support of your application.

Council on Circulation & Vascular Ultrasound (CAVUS) Luminary Award

New in 2022! The Council on Circulation & Vascular Ultrasound will recognize an individual who has made significant contributions to the scholarly, educational, or clinical endeavors in the fields of circulation and/or vascular ultrasound.  The CAVUS Luminary award is presented at the CAVUS business meeting at the ASE Annual Scientific Sessions in June.

This awardee is selected by the Council on Circulation & Vascular Ultrasound.  Members who have suggestions should share them with nread@asecho.org for consideration by the Council.
