Council Objectives include:
- Support circulation and vascular ultrasound interest areas by communicating issues of importance to the membership;
- Provide guidance to the ASE Board of Directors regarding circulation and vascular ultrasound;
- Provide a forum for members with similar interests to network;
- Provide a representative (council chairman) to ASE Board of Directors;
- To provide educational offerings for those practicing cardiovascular ultrasound for circulation and vascular patients, including guidance to Scientific Sessions Program Committee
- To provide guidance on standards of care related to circulation and vascular ultrasound to the Board and Guidelines and Standards Committee

Circulation & Vascular Ultrasound Council (CAVUS) Luminary Award
In 2022, the inaugural CAVUS Luminary Award was awarded to Esther (Soo Hyun) Kim, MD, MPH, RPVI, FASE of Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN.
Scientific Sessions Travel Grant Award
2023 Scientific Sessions Travel Grants Application will open Spring 2023
In partnership with the ASE Circulation & Vascular Ultrasound Council (CAVUS), the ASE Foundation will sponsor three vascular trainees to attend the 34th ASE Annual Scientific Sessions in National Harbor, MD, June 23-26, 2023. Three travel grants of $1,000.00 each will be awarded.
These travel grants are part of an effort by ASE’s Circulation and Vascular Ultrasound Council Steering Committee to encourage physician trainees in cardiovascular specialties to focus on the field of vascular ultrasound and to recruit enthusiastic new members to the Circulation and Vascular Ultrasound Council.
The application process requires submission of:
- Your current CV.
- A brief, one-page personal statement about why you want to attend the Annual ASE Scientific Sessions.
- A letter from the director of your training program or the echo laboratory director in support of your application.

If selected for a 2023 Vascular & Circulation Ultrasound Council Travel Grant in the amount of $1,000.00 (U.S. currency) you are agreeing to attend the 34th Annual ASE Scientific Sessions in National Harbor, MD. Travel grant winners will be acknowledged during the council business meetings which will be held on Friday, June 23. Award winners are required to attend. Travel grant winners will be notified by May 1, 2023.
Applicants must be a member of ASE. Current faculty and/or previous recipients of an ASE Travel Grant are not eligible to apply. Questions may be directed to awards@asecho.org. Deadline for submission is Monday, April 15, 2023.
