The latest issue of CASE is now available with intriguing reports, including “TUSI Valve: Echocardiographic and Pathologic Correlates of a Novel Drug-Induced Valvular Disease—a Case Series,” by Vasquez-Rodriguez et al. Juan Felipe Vasquez-Rodriguez, MD, FASE, remarked, “Although drug-induced valvular heart disease is a well-recognized entity, it is still most commonly linked in our minds to ergot derivatives, appetite suppressants, and medications such as cabergoline. Our CASE series highlights that synthetic recreational drugs, particularly TUSI, may also be associated with severe mitral and tricuspid valvular disease characterized by leaflet thickening, restricted motion, and histopathologic findings similar to classic drug-related valvulopathy. As the use of these substances continues to rise, clinicians should keep this exposure in mind when evaluating patients with valvular heart disease of unclear cause.” Check out Dr. Sorrell’s interview with Dr. Vazquez on the CASE homepage” and embed the URL for the main CASE site.

This issue also features a compelling collection of reports that explore congenital heart disease, including Kandoi et al.’s examination of the dynamic features of cor triatriatum sinister. Lim et al.’s CASE highlights an interventricular membranous septal aneurysm in an asymptomatic patient. Rasheed et al. discuss the rare coexistence of an uncommon congenital valve duo in an adult. This issue also features a paper on fetal echocardiography by Lee et al. who presents a prenatally diagnosed right ventricular diverticulum with an atypical wide neck, underscoring the importance of early detection. To close out the issue, Kucuk et al. take readers into the Hemodynamic Corner, exploring echocardiographic insights beyond E and A waves in the pursuit of understanding the elusive third diastolic wave.

Readers can look forward to Dr. Sorrell’s editorial, which aims to make readers aware of the potential risks of over-reliance on generative AI.
