The June JASE issue is now online and features a new ASE Guideline “Guidelines for the Intraprocedural Imaging for Mitral Valve Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair (M-TEER): Recommendations from the American Society of Echocardiography”. Regarding this paper
Stephen Little, MD, FASE remarks “This guideline represents an important first step in standardizing how echocardiography is used to guide transcatheter mitral valve edge-to-edge repair. By bringing together national and international expertise, we provide a practical, step-by-step approach that emphasizes best practices in 2-D and 3-D transesophageal echocardiography, with the goal of improving procedural consistency, safety, and patient outcomes”.
This issue’s original investigations incorporate a variety of topics including ventricular remodeling after mitral valve repair, performance of ASE’s new diastolic function guidelines, and bicuspid aortic valve in infants. A state-of-the-art review details the effect of general anesthesia and mechanical ventilation on the echocardiographic evaluation of cardiac function. Readers can also look forward to five brief research communications.
In this month’s President’s Message, ASE President David Wiener, MD, FASE shares his echoes of gratitude for his last message in JASE.
