In Case You Missed It: Last week, the Canadian Society of Echocardiography live journal club in collaboration with JASE discussed, “Normal Values of Aortic Root Size According to Age, Sex, and Race: Results of the World Alliance of Societies of Echocardiography (WASE) Study” by Patel et al., from the March JASE. Pellikka Named Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography

Patricia A. Pellikka, MD, FACC, FAHA, FASE, will become the fourth Editor-in-Chief (EIC) of the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography (JASE) on January 1, 2023. She takes the reins from Michael H. Picard, MD, FACC, FASE, who will have served as the EIC for five years. JASE is the flagship journal of the American Society of Echocardiography, published by Elsevier, with a 2020 Impact Factor of 5.251. It is a peer-reviewed journal containing original research, practice guidelines, state-of-the-art review articles, and brief research communications on cardiovascular ultrasound, including new techniques with emerging clinical applications. Upcoming Webinar – Pediatric Transesophageal Echocardiography: Intraoperative Communication and Decision Making

The ASE Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease Council is continuing its series of webinars discussing and sharing practical tips and tricks in the practice of congenital heart disease imaging.

The next webinar, Pediatric Transesophageal Echocardiography: Intraoperative Communication and Decision Making, will take place on Thursday, May 19, 2022, from 6:30 – 8:00 PM ET. This webinar will be a case-based discussion focusing on the importance of communication to allow for optimal decision making when performing transesophageal echocardiography in the operating room. The presentations will concentrate on cases in which communication and team work were utilized to ensure optimal outcome was achieved.

ASE Needs Your Help – Practice Expense Invoices

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will be reviewing the supply and equipment inputs for echocardiography services. ASE needs to provide paid invoices to CMS for every disposable supply and piece of equipment by June 18, 2022.
